ENZO ISAIA

Enzo Isaia

Born in Pordenone in 1941, but lives and works in Turin, where he moved at a very young age. After classical studies he attended the Faculty of Architecture, which he abandoned at the end of the 1960s to devote himself completely to photography, fascinated by the works of Cartier-Bresson and by the great reportages of periodicals such as Life, Look, Paris Match, Stern, Epoca. Based first in Milan and then in Turin he travels the Mediterranean, fixing on film the exciting moments of new archaeological discoveries and immortalizing personalities from the world of entertainment such as Lucio Dalla, Mina, Carla Fracci and Giorgio Gaber.

However, it is in Turin that he manages to combine his itinerant streak with professional needs, discovering a new, great interest: the automobile.
He specializes in advertising, with a particular vocation for large still lifes: cars are followed by industrial vehicles, motorcycles, tractors, earthmoving machinery, trains, ships and airplanes, both outdoors and on the studios. First in Europe, he designs and uses the rig for dynamic filming of vehicles. He collaborates with the biggest international magazines, in the automotive and non-automotive sector, and creates dozens of advertising campaigns and calendars, while brochures, monographs and annual reports for the industry are countless.
For over ten years, with enormous pleasure, he tackled the challenging task of portraying objects with wonderful design, such as the "standard" Ferrari and Maserati cars and the "custom" Pininfarina, Bertone and Giugiaro cars.
He also works for Alenia, AlfaRomeo, Balay, Bentley, Berco, Cir, Citroen, Daikin, Ducati, Fendi, Ferrero, Fiat, Indesit, Intesa San Paolo, Iveco, Johnson Wax, Lancia, La Stampa, L'Oréal, New Holland, Peugeot, Philip Morris, Sai, Saunier Duval, Superga, Suzuki…
Among his most recent works are some monographs on contemporary sculpture and on artists such as Carlo Mollino, Riccardo Cordero and Fabio Viale.

Since the beginning of his career he has managed to carve out spaces for personal research, in color and in black and white, which give free rein to his creative vein and ranges between portraits, reportage, architecture and landscape. Strengthened by her professional experience, even in these works she initiates an in-depth investigation into the optical effects created by light and different atmospheric conditions, which become co-protagonists and interact with the photographed object, each time transmuting it into something new and surprising. He has exhibited his images of him countless times in solo and group exhibitions.

This site aims to be a rundown on his personal research, with the only exceptions of the images of planes and Ferraris.
